Job Description : An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer/Purchasing/Sourcing specialist to join an expanding team of procurement professionals with a remit to lower the total cost of ownership and minimise risk to Cummins by providing functional purchasing support for indirect products and services. This role would suit someone with previous purchasing experience of Maintenance, Repair and Operating Supplies (MRO), Supply, however if you have an aptitude to learn the business skills we are ready to develop you into this role.


Develop/consolidate and maintain a supply base of competitive and innovative companies. Develop/ implement commodity/services strategies. Lead sourcing processes for indirect purchases. Negotiate contracts; liaise with Legal Department. Adopt “Best in Class” procurement processes, practices, methodologies and tools – including Six Sigma and Ariba Spend Management. Mediate issues between functional customers & suppliers. Provide budget holders direction to set AOP objectives and spending levels.


Ideally you’ve proven communication, negotiation and organisational skills, hold a business related degree, as well as MCIPS qualification and a trained Six Sigma Green Belt (or willingness to become qualified, both sponsored by Cummins). Applications are encouraged from candidates who have project management, business skills, or European language skills, but don't necessarily have the required purchasing skills and exp. Ability to conceptualise strategic elements of commodity supply & develop opportunities for improvements. Data driven with strong analytical skills; Attention to detail. Project management; Managing change; Understands business requirements of functional stakeholders. Understands financial analysis & decision-making. Excellent communication skills; Formal presentation. Strong negotiation skills; Problem solving techniques. Computer literate; proficient in MS Office.
